Getting Your Point Across

The purpose of this workshop is to prepare participants for the 
various situations which leaders find themselves.  Whether it is a brief 
presentation or a speech to a large audience - this information can make the difference 
in getting your point across and your message understood.

Through lecture/demos, role playing and various exercises we'll cover:

• Four steps of active listening
• Understanding your non-verbal communication
• Presentation tips
• Making introductions
• Creating verbal images
• Overcoming fear of speaking in public
• Using audio visuals and props
• The proper use of humor
• Using the environment to help carry your message
• Handling difficult speaking situations
• Developing effective audience participation

Workshop Design Tip

This workshop is an excellent training module for Orientation Leaders, RA's, and Peer Counselors. In the adapted session we cover:
• asking questions that open communication
• words that work to build trust
• resolving potential conflict
• developing ice breakers for small group meetings

Another application is Conversational Rush Skills: What do you say after hello? This adaptation for Greeks, enables even the newest member to acquire the necessary skills for carrying on effective, informational conversations.
